Eleanor Johnson
April 17th, 1933 - January 31st, 2025
Eleanor Mae Francis Johnson (Ellie) was born in Youngstown, Ohio on April 17, 1933. Ellie passed away January 31, 2025 at the age of 91. She is predeceased by her loving husband and best friend Charlie on January 20, 2016, her parents Alice Mae Patterson and Robert James Francis, brothers Robert James Francis, Jr. and Earl Edward Francis.
Ellie leaves a daughter, Barbara Lynn Todd (Roy) and a son, Robert George Browning (Daisy), seven grandchildren Toby, Laura, Rebecca, Travis, Angela, Deenie and Tracie and seven great-grandchildren Justin, Kyle, Bradie, Bonnie, Aubrey, Colton and Charlotte.
Her family moved from Youngstown, Ohio in 1934 and she grew up in Hyattsville, Maryland. Ellie went to Hyattsville High School where she met Charlie. Ellie retired from the U.S. Government and had worked in the secretarial field. She attended Hope Presbyterian Church in Mitchellville, Maryland and North Lake Presbyterian Church in Lady Lake, Florida.
After retirement Ellie and Charlie took golf lessons as well as downhill snow skiing lessons. Ellie had so many fond and loving memories of grandchildren in their backyard pool, snow skiing and golfing while still in Maryland as the grandchildren were growing up.
Ellie and Charlie moved to The Villages, Florida in 2001 for the love of golf and having their own golf cart in their garage. They both truly loved their new retirement home. Ellie was very proud of her three holes-in-one, two before leaving Maryland.
Ellie was loved and will be missed by family, wonderful friends and neighbors who were so kind to her when she lost Charlie who she missed every day. Charlie was her high school sweetheart, they married, divorced and then remarried in 1973 spending forty-three years together the second time around. She had never stopped missing him.
A visitation will be held at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services at 3975 Wedgewood Lane, The Villages, Florida
on Sunday February 16, 2025 from 3 to 5 p.m .Her funeral service will be on Monday February 17, 2025 at 11 a.m. also at Heirs-Baxley. (Interment with Charlie at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fl. will take place privately on Tuesday)
Donations in Eleanor's memory may be sent to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or the Sumter County Humane Society.
