Carol Dibbern (1940 – 2025)

Carol Dibbern (85) of Oro Valley, Arizona, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2025, after a short illness related to cancer. A woman of strength, independence, and warmth, Carol lived a full and vibrant life, leaving behind cherished memories for those who knew and loved her.

Born Carol Barba on January 7, 1940, in New York City to a proud Italian family, she grew up with a strong sense of community and faith. She later moved to California as a young adult, where she pursued her passion for beauty and entrepreneurship, becoming the owner of a successful salon in San Francisco. It was there that she met the love of her life, William “Bill” Dibbern. The two married in 1981 and shared many wonderful years together until his passing in 2018.

Carol had a deep love for travel, embracing the world with curiosity and enthusiasm. She was an avid walker and swimmer, always finding joy in movement and nature. Her caring nature and gift for conversation made her a beloved friend to many. Later in life, she found purpose working at Catalina State Park, where she enjoyed connecting with nature and the community.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Bill, her sister Carmela A. “Millie” Nugent, her nephew Michael Nugent, and her niece Angela Dibbern. Carol is lovingly remembered by her nephews Thomas Nugent, Daniel Nugent (Nicole), and Andreas W. Dibbern (Karen), as well as her many dear friends.

A woman of faith, Carol’s life was a testament to resilience, kindness, and adventure. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In honor of Carol’s memory, donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans or The Salvation Army.

Carol Dibbern is interred with her husband Bill at the Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery at Marana, Arizona.
