                                               Elizabeth Hansen-Griffin

Elizabeth Hansen-Griffin passed away peacefully in her home February 4, 2025, Walnut Creek, CA.

Elizabeth was born in San Leandro, California and grew up in the East Bay becoming proficient at playing the piano at a young age as well as an enthusiastic skier later in life.

She married and became a mother of 4 children: Peter, Paul, John and Lisa.  Elizabeth was an accomplished teacher and principal with a career spanning over 30 years in elementary education in South San Francisco impacting the lives of hundreds of children and earning the respect of her colleagues during her esteemed career. During this time Elizabeth also earned two Masters Degrees in Education from San Francisco State University.

She was the family matriarch extremely proud of her legacy which includes 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Elizabeth was a world traveler, avid reader, gourmet cook (Oh those McNonnies!), loved to garden, searching out special antiques, socializing and entertaining.  She took great pride in always being one of best dressed in the room.

Upon her retirement from teaching, she moved to Rossmoor where she met Cathal “Griff” Griffin and they soon married. For the next 20 years they traveled, were active in the many family events and activities including playing golf, and her singing club.

Cathal “Griff” and her son Peter precede her in passing.

We find solace knowing that she will be reunited with her beloved Griff and son Peter. They will now be at peace, as twinkling stars in the night sky.
