In loving memory

Cherolyn Gayle (Shay) Hallett

April 28, 1979 - January 24, 2025

Beloved mother, daughter, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend, Cherolyn passed away tragically, with the loving embrace of her mother and four children while in the care of St. Anthony's Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado on January 24, 2025.

Cherolyn was born to Lisa (Pectol) Niday and Terry Pectol on April 28, 1979 in Amarillo, Texas. She lived in both Amarillo and Lubbock until 1985 when she and her mother moved to Colorado. As a child she loved gymnastics and swimming. Cherolyn graduated from Douglas County High School in the class of 1997 where she was a varsity student athlete with the swim team. She also swam with USA Swimming Club, Aces.

She married David Hallett in 2007. He is the father of her four children. They were divorced in 2015. Post divorce she was pursuing her college degree from York University where she was majoring in psychology.

Cherolyn enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling. Whatever she was pursuing, she went all in. However, her greatest accomplishment was being a mother to her four surviving children: DM, Wyatt, Codee and Kayla. As a mother, she was paramount in her children’s school activities and their sports. She was the Cub Scout Pack leader of Pack 379 and a winner of many awards that denoted her long time commitment and leadership within scouting.

She was a member of the Church of Christ and an avid student of the Bible. She evangelized to many and opened her heart and faith with Christ-like compassion, as well.

Cherolyn is survived by her mother, Lisa Niday; her four children: DM, Wyatt, Codee and Kayla Hallett; her grandmother, Mary Prosser; her two uncles: Chip Prosser and John (Pam) Prosser and cousin, Chance Prosser. She was preceded in death by her great grandfather, Acie Henderson; great grandparents, Earl & Hazel Prosser; grandfather, Mike Prosser and great aunt, Frances Riley.

Cherolyn brought joy wherever she went. She will be missed by all who knew her and she will live in our hearts and minds forever. May the Lord rest her soul, amen.
