Alexander John "A.J." Stout

Alexander John “A.J.” Stout 88, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 13, 2025. He was born in Harlan, KY to the late William and Georgia Stout. A.J. moved to Kingsport in 1955 and went to work for the old Oakwood Market in 1956 where he met the love of his life Barbara who he married in 1960. He continued to work at Oakwood Markets for 42 years before transferring to Food City where he retired after 11 years. A.J. was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Barbara Lawson Stout; daughter, Ginger Stout Wilson; brother, Billy Stout; sister, Ozeal Brooks.

Survivors include his daughter, Julie Stout Lewis and husband Steve; grandchildren, Jason Harkleroad, Cody Wilson, Hannah Duncan; Heather Lewis Shropshire and husband Blake, and Alex Lewis and wife Sophia; sister, Betty Stout; seven great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1pm on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Blake Shropshire officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50pm.
