It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eugenia Jaromowycz Holub. Beloved mother and grandmother, she passed peacefully in her North Port home on February 14th, 2025. Eugenia moved to North Port in 1997. An active member of the Ukrainian community she found her home here surrounded by many friends.Eugenia’s story began in Tritki Poland in 1931 in a loving large family of 8 girls and 1 boy. The daughter of a brickmaker and homemaker, she enjoyed a happy life in Eastern Europe, until war would separate some of them. Her oldest sister, Teofilia was sent to Germany. After the liberation, when Teofilia moved on to England, Eugenia would soon follow. It is there she met Stephan Holub and after a very short courtship they were married. Eventually a job opportunity would send them overseas to the suburbs of Boston.Very active in the Ukrainian Community of Boston, Eugenia and Stephan would maintain their traditions and culture in everything they did. It was a vital part of their lives, and with the addition of their daughter, Christina, they made sure to prioritize Ukrainian life and culture.Eugenia was a tremendously determined woman and though her primary languages were Polish and Ukrainian, she worked tirelessly to embrace her new world in the United States. She worked in electronics assembly but her passion was sewing, taking any and every opportunity to work as a seamstress.Eugenia was predeceased by her husband, Stephan, who passed in 1993. She is survived by her daughter, Christina Robichaud, son-in-law, Alan and two beautiful grand-daughters, Cléa and Natasha. She will be forever remembered for her strength, resolve, unyielding stubbornness and determination. These beautiful characteristics defined her and have been passed on to her family. She will be tremendously missed.Funeral services will be held at St Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, North Port at 11am.Her final resting place will be beside her loving husband at Venice Memorial Gardens.
