Richard Charles Beglinger, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and great grandfather passed away in the comfort of his home on January 30, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 25, 1947 and raised in Southern California. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary, on July 26, 1969. They moved to Boise in 1977 with their two sons, Michael and Matthew. The family was complete with the birth of their daughter, Gina, in 1984.

After graduation from Glendale High School, he served 3 years in the US Army, which included a year in Vietnam. During this time, he was called home due to the death of his father, but returned to finish his tour. He also attended Glendale Jr College and, after moving to Boise, took classes at BSU.

For 35 years, he was a dedicated worker, putting in tireless hours for the US Postal Service, often over the holidays, with barely a complaint. He set the bar for his children on what it means to sacrifice and provide for a family. He had so much pride in his kids and talked about his sons, both engineers, and his daughter, a registered nurse. His grandchildren were always a priority and he attended as many sporting events and school programs as possible.

Dick cherished the things that made life truly rich; having fun, enjoying good food, spending time with family, spreading kindness and always taking time to engage with a stranger in any conversation. He was a genuine people person and his smile and joyful demeanor were contagious. Trips to Lake Tahoe with family, watching his beloved Rams play on Sundays and enjoying a deep love of music brought him happiness.

He embodied community spirit and spent much of his time paying it forward by volunteering with several different organizations including MADD and the Epilepsy League of Idaho. As someone who dealt with epilepsy throughout his adult life, he wanted to give back and show his support for others. He enjoyed public speaking and looked forward to his weekly meetings with Ada Toastmasters. Although Dick faced many health challenges over the course of his lifetime, he always maintained that he was the "luckiest guy alive." He was an eternal optimist, which served him well throughout his life.

Dick is survived by his wife, Mary, two sons, Michael (Leigh), Matthew (Megan), daughter, Gina (Bret), eight grandchildren, Ryan (Paige), Sarah, Ben, Lilli, Ruby, Will, Liv, and Bowen, his sister, Joyce, two nephews, David (Liseth), and James (Amber), great nephews David and Danny, and a great niece, Alyse. He was a great grandpa to Ryan and Paige's newborn son, Russell, for three hours.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2:00 p.m. at Faith Community Bible Church, 9950 W. Ustick Rd., Boise. Dick will be buried at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation of Idaho.
