Dwane Webster Bowman

Dwane Webster Bowman, affectionately known as Papa Duck, a longtime resident of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, passed away January 30, 2025. Born in Denver, Colorado on May 19, 1942, he was a graduate of North High School before serving his country honorably in the United States Navy stationed in San Diego, California from 1959-1963.

It was during his naval service in San Diego that he met Jean Rigsbee of La Jolla, California, whom he married in 1963. After their marriage, the couple returned to Colorado, making their home in Wheat Ridge, where they built a life together, raising two daughters. Dwane worked for many years at NationsWay Transport, where he became active in the Teamsters.

Dwane loved anything outdoors, but especially loved hunting, fishing, and camping. He cherished watching his daughters and grandchildren in their many sports and loved cheering on the Denver Broncos. Some of his favorite things outside of family were his and Jean’s close friends, ducks, traveling and his many dogs and grand dogs.

Dwane’s memory is cherished by his wife of 61 years, Jean, and his daughters, Debbie Bowman-Kohut and Denise Schwartz and her husband, Bryan. Dwane’s legacy lives on through his grandchildren, Madison, Alex, and Heath. Dwane is also survived by his mother Mildred Bowman, brother and sister-in-law Bruce and Carolyn Bowman, and his nieces Lindsey Zelie (Joel) and Kaelyn Bowman (Amanda) and their children and was preceded in death by his father, Carroll Webster Bowman, and his sister, Connie Diane Bowman.

A private family service will be held in Dwane’s honor.
