Nancy Gordon Jones

Nancy Gordon Jones, born on September 27, 1936, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, February 21, 2025. She was the beloved daughter of James Miller Gordon and Bertha (Applegarth) Gordon.  Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 66 years, Charles B Jones III, in 2021, and a brother, James Gordon, in 2024.

Nancy is survived by her children:  Michael (Darlene) Jones, Patricia (John) Prime, and Elizabeth Dewald Jones. She is also survived by a brother, Franklin Gordon; her grandchildren:  Ashley Jones, Natalie (Preston) Harris, Kelly (Stephen) Prime, Maxwell (Ashely) Prime, Lindsay (Alexandra) Quill, Matthew (Matt) Quill; and her great-grandchildren Theodore, Elliotte, and Amelia Harris.

As a daughter of a father in the military, Nancy lived in many places, most notably Dover, DE and East Lansing, MI.  It was in East Lansing that Nancy met Charles at Michigan State University, and they eventually married on July 16, 1955.  They then moved to Canajoharie NY in 1960 where they raised their three children. She most recently resided at Arkell Center in Canajoharie, after the death of Charles, and made many good friends.

Nancy spent most of her life as a housewife, later working as a receptionist in a doctor’s office.  She enjoyed reading, gardening, antiquing, and cross-stitching.  She was a member of the Monday Evening Club and the Reformed Church of Canajoharie.

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, March 3, 2025, from 2pm to 3pm at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. A service of remembrance will be held at 3pm with Reverend Nancy Ryan officiating. A private interment will take place at Freysbush Cemetery in the spring.
