Howard Vernon Hamm, of Fort Johnson, New York, passed away on February 17, 2025, unexpectedly at his home. 

 

He was born on June 12, 1958, in Amsterdam, New York, where he attended Amsterdam school district. He was the son of the late Kenneth and Marjorie (Slater) Hamm. 

 

Howard was employed by Coleco Industries for a number of years before working in the construction field as a sand blaster for Rick’s Sand Blasting in Broadalbin, New York.

 

He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Weiderman) Hamm and his four sons, Justin (Priya) Hamm, Jeremy (Jessica) Hamm, Jason (Jessica) Hamm, and Thomas Hamm. He is also survived by sisters Linda (Richard) Waldvogel, Janet LaPorte, and Carol Hamm, as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

 

Howard loved spending time with his family—especially his brother in law, Rick.  He enjoyed hunting, NASCAR, and watching the NFL as a Philadelphia Eagles fan. 

 

Howard’s care has been entrusted to Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, New York.  A celebration of life will be announced by the family at a later date.
