Lyle Leverentz Jan. 2, 1961 – Oct. 2, 2023 CROSS PLAINS - Lyle Leverentz, age 62, of Cross Plains, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023 at UW Hospital and Clinics. He was born on January 2, 1961 in Madison, the son of Lyall and Donna (Lynch) Leverentz. Lyle graduated from LaFolette High School in 1979. He worked as an architect and had an illustrious career spanning over 35 years. He worked at Mead & Hunt, Inc. for 23 years and Power Engineers, Inc. for 6 years. At the time of his passing, he was employed at Potter Lawson, Inc., where he had been working for the last 6 years. One of Lyle’s biggest accomplishments was being publicly recognized for his design and oversight of construction of the air traffic control tower at Volk Field, Camp Douglas. This was just one of the many examples of his talent and commitment to quality design and architecture, a true testament to the profession. Lyle was a tirelessly devoted father to his two daughters—they were his pride and joy. He lovingly supported his beautiful daughters in all their dreams in life. On December 14, 2011, in Las Vegas, Nevada, Lyle opened his heart more when he married Luanne Roessler and enfolded his three step daughters into his family. His kindness, generosity, and loyalty were felt by anyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His smile would light up a room and everyone would feel welcomed by his presence. Lyle worked hard and played hard—he lived life to the fullest. He was inquisitive and had a keen intellect that drove all his pursuits. He had an extensive knowledge base and a wide range of skills gained through life experiences. He was a gifted carpenter and skilled tiler, learning this latter art form from his father. He was also an outdoors enthusiast, who enjoyed golfing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends, especially at his cabin in Ontario, WI. He recently started building his dream shed that would include upper-level living quarters. Additionally, Lyle enjoyed weekend trips ATVing or motorcycling with friends to experience many of the beautiful sights the Midwest has to offer. He loved live music and was an avid Packer and Badger sports fan; attending concerts, hockey and football games with his daughters were some of his most cherished memories. The highlight of his life, though, was becoming a grandpa and spending time with his grandchildren. Lyle is survived by his wife, Luanne; daughters, Cortney (Brandon McCafferty) Leverentz, and Taylor (Jake) Arneson and grandson, Leo Arneson; step-daughters, Kayla (Ben Hacker) Roessler, Melissa (Jayden) Johnson and Allison (Anthony) Brandt; and step grandchildren, Everly Hacker, Mason Johnson, Brooks Brandt and Blake Brandt; and siblings, Jeanne (Ted) Mork, Jaynne Leverentz, and Joanne (Thomas) Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyall and Donna. Lyle’s generosity towards others continues beyond his life on earth. In his final act he gave the gift of life through organ and tissue donation. The family would like to thank all the EMS, Police, Med Flight Staff, Doctors, Nurses, CNAs, Radiology Techs, Respiratory Therapists, and Medical Personnel who cared for Lyle in his final hours. Gratitude cannot be expressed by words alone—the family appreciates beyond measure their unwavering dedication to caring for others in times of great need. A celebration of life will be held at CROSS PLAINS AMERICAN LEGION, 2217 American Legion Drive, Cross Plains, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, 2024.
