Monica VERONICA Mellad
December 8th, 1943 - October 5th, 2023
Monica Veronica Mellad was born on December 8, 1943, in Kingston, Jamaica. She was predeceased in death by her Mother Lynette Oates, Father Donald Mellad, Brother Noel Mellad, and Son Michael Arron. On October 5th, 2023 Monica passed away peacefully at the age of 79 just 2 months shy of her 80th birthday. Monica is and will always be a gleaming light for those who know her. Her untimely passing has shocked us all. To know Monica would have been a gift, for she was able to convey love and opinion without filter. She either liked you or she did not! Whichever category you fell in you surely knew it. In 1979 Monica immigrated to the United States where she planted her roots in Brooklyn, NY until she became ill and relocated to Florida in 1995 where she lived with her daughter Sandra and Son-in-law Hugh (Tony) Miles. When Monica moved to the United States she worked tirelessly to make way for her children Sandra, Steve, Ronalee, and Tamika. Her sacrifices can be seen in all her children's success. Bringing her family to America became her biggest accomplishment. Her roots have sprouted into careers from the youngest daughter to the oldest. Let's not forget her love for her only living son Steve, with whom she would give her all to a fault. A mother's love is unconditional and this showed more so when it came to him. All who know her know that she had an unmeasurable love for her grandchildren. With each and every one they too received her efforts, love, and sacrifices. Whether volunteering to offset expenses or caring for them while a parent worked she made the sacrifice and effort whenever and however required. If you know her you have heard about all those she cares for. Monica loved spending time with everyone, but especially her grandkids. She was also the life of the party. She made an impression on everyone she met, often receiving invitations to attend events given by everyone from close friends, family, and people she literally just met. Monica enjoyed traveling to different places, but didn’t care where she was going. Throughout the years she maintained her strongest friendship with two of her closest friends Joyce “Polly” Dell and Beverly Walters affectionately known as (The Three Musketeers). I know she would want them to be happy and continue to remember her in the memories they shared. Monica is survived by her 4 Children Sandra Miles, Steve Strudwick, Ronalee Ingleton and Tamika Mahone; 2 Son-in-laws Hugh (Tony) Miles Sr. and Nathaniel (John) Mahone Sr.; 6 grandkids Hugh Miles II, Jada Mahone, Nyah Cox, Matthew Miles, Nathaniel (Boogie) Mahone and Brianna Strudwick; and 1 expected Great Grandchild; 2 cats Bear, Dior and her favorite dog Neo as well as host of other family members and friends. Monica is known for her big heart. She was seen as loving and dependable, always willing to lend a hand in times of need, giving her last. Her vibrant personality made her the life of the party as she was great at meeting new people and making them family. She was an angel and a blessing to all who crossed her path. She will surely be missed. Rest in Eternal Peace Mom.
