Flahiff Funeral Chapels & Crematory-Caldwell
Homero L. Gonzalez
March 31st, 1937 - March 3rd, 2025
Homero Lopez Gonzalez, 87, of Caldwell, Idaho, passed away on March 3, 2025, at home, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 31, 1937, in Eagle Pass, Texas, to Jesus Gonzalez and Geronima Lopez.
Homero grew up working in agriculture alongside his parents and siblings, migrating seasonally between Texas, Colorado, and Idaho. After the passing of his mother in 1962, the family settled in Idaho, where he continued working in the agricultural field. He later joined Crookham Seed Company, where he worked diligently until his retirement in 2002. Working outdoors was not only his livelihood, but also his passion.
Homero cherished life’s simple pleasures – crossword puzzles, gardening, long walks, listening to music, and attending car shows. Above all, he loved spending time with his nieces and nephews and celebrating family gatherings. He was known for sharing stories of his childhood, the cars he owned, and historical events – always with a touch of humor.
He is survived by his sister, Margarita Gonzalez; niece, Linda Salinas (Juan); nieces and nephews: Juan Salinas (Crystal), Brianna Fielding (Steve), Nathan Salinas (Lupe), and Oziah Misquez; as well as great-niece and nephews: Zayden Salinas, Aeva Salinas, Matthias Salinas, Cynthia Salinas, Elias Salinas, and Elijah Avila.
He was preceded in death by his siblings: Maria Adelfa Gonzalez, Anita Flores (Juan Flores), and Jesus Gonzalez (Eva Ozuna Gonzalez).
Homero will be remembered for his perseverance, sense of humor, caring nature, and strong independence. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Canyon Hill Cemetery in Caldwell. Flowers for family may be sent to Flahiff Funeral Chapel, 624 Cleveland Blvd. in Caldwell. Services are under the care of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. (208) 459-0833
