Kevin Ray Craycraft
June 5th, 1967 - March 3rd, 2025
Kevin Ray Craycraft, 57, of Lexington, and devoted husband of Charity Lee Craycraft passed away at home on Monday, March 3, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born to Shirley Hall Craycraft and the late Virgil Rhea Craycraft on June 5, 1967.
Kevin was a longtime professor of surgical technology at Bluegrass Community & Technical College (BCTC) following almost two decades of scrubbing surgical cases in ORs throughout Lexington, as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST). He was a passionate advocate for his profession. He passed that devotion to his students and fellow surgical technologists. His legacy will continue through each of them. He contributed to his profession by serving in various capacities nationally for the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST): as past president, board member, and committee member. He served locally for the Kentucky State Assembly of AST: as past president and board member. He was also recognized as a Fellow of the AST (FAST).
To know Kevin was to love him. His energy, smile, and laughter could brighten any room. People enjoyed his presence, company, and friendship. Most of all, Kevin loved his family. His boys were his entire world. They miss him deeply, as do his friends.
His interests were varied and impassioned. Growing up in Hillard, Ohio, he became an avid Ohio State Bucks fan, who also loved UK basketball. He enjoyed live music and would see The Rolling Stones every chance he got.
In addition to his loving wife of 28 years and his dear mother, Kevin is survived by his sons, Raylee Stone Craycraft and Michael Patrick Craycraft; mother-in-law, Kathy Price; brothers-in-law, Todd (Tamara) King, Witt (Christina) Withers, and Dillon (Tessa) Price; nephews and nieces, Davron Bowman, Madison King, Shelby Withers, Chelsea Withers, Dawson Price; his chosen brothers, Marshall (Mary Jane) Hill and Chap Franklin; and devoted dog, Brutus. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael Paul Craycraft and David Alan Craycraft.
Friends of the family are invited to a Celebration of Kevin’s Life Gathering this Saturday, March 8th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Clark Legacy Center-Brannon Crossing for one final “Peace b safe”.
