In loving memory of Kathleen Ann Koen - aka “Buzz”
January 24, 1940 - February 28, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kathleen Ann Koen, a devoted mother, cherished sister, and beloved grandmother, who left this world peacefully on February 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on January 24, 1940, in Gatineau Quebec Canada, Kathleen lived a life filled with warmth, kindness, and unwavering love. She was the heart of the family whose gentle spirit and boundless generosity touched everyone she met. Her smile could light up a room, and her guidance and wisdom was a guiding force for those lucky enough to know her.
Kathleen dedicated her life to nurturing those she loved. As a mother, she raised her son with strength and grace, teaching him the value of compassion and resilience. As a sister to six siblings, she was more than just family - she was a lifelong friend, a trusted confidante, and a source of endless laughter. From childhood adventures to long heart-to-heart phone calls, her bond with each of her brothers and sisters was unshakable. She celebrated every triumph, comforted every sorrow, and carried the stories of their children with a twinkle in her eye.
As a grandmother (“Granny”), Kathleen brought endless joy and warm embraces to her two grandchildren, who adored her beyond measure. She found happiness in living close to them and spending time with them often. Every time they came through the door her smile lit up the room as she gave them the biggest hugs and kisses a grandmother could. Nothing made her happier than to spoil them with snacks and treats on every visit.
Kathleen is survived by her son John, her daughter-in-law Christina; her sisters Maureen and Margaret Ann; her treasured grandchildren Emily and Aiden, and her beloved dog Peaches. She is now reunited in peace with her loving husband John, her brothers and sisters Maurice, Mary, Jimmy, Jean, and her parents James and Jean.
"Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day—unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and forever dear.
