Memorial

Dennis was educated in Frankfort, N.Y. and went on to earn an associate degree from Utica College. He joined the United States Reserve and earned a position as an X-ray technician.  He was employed, along with his father and brother by Remington Rand in Ilion, N.Y.  which later became known as Remington Rand, Univac and Unisys.  His position as Technical Supervisor allowed his workplace to take him to cities across the country including New York, Pennsylvania, and Chicago. He retired from his work career with Global Crossings in Clearwater, Fl.

He was a proud member of the Frankfort Volunteer Fire Department working next to his brother, Richard (Rick) Van Dusen who predeceased him in 2003. A proud lifetime member of the National Rifle Association/NRA, he spent many years hunting in New York  and Pennsylvania with his father, brother, and friends. His Italian heritage graced him passionately, making homemade wine alongside his brother and friends.  Dennis had won many trophies awarding him 1st place in local car shows with his prize vintage “1977 yellow Corvette”.  His best travel which brought him close to his grandparent's birthplace was in Italy.  One of his favorite parts of the day was talking on the phone to his “out of state” buddies reminiscing about the good ole days and catching up on the latest football scores. As a man of faith, he attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pinellas Park, believed deeply in Our Lord and was especially devoted to our Blessed Mother.

Dennis leaves behind his daughter, Dedra Jon Van Dusen of Philadelphia, PA.; three sisters, Maureen Cancelino of Clearwater, Fl., Donna Minosh and brother-in-law Charles (Charlie) Smith of Dunedin, Fl.,  Jacqueline Bonn and brother-in-law John (Hank) Bonn of Enterprise, Alabama along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Chapel in Pinellas Park on March 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM.

Interment will be at Mt Olivet, Frankfort, New York in the spring of 2025.

May our Lord’s comfort, peace and light bring Dennis eternal rest.
