Patricia "Patt" Marie Deines
January 22nd, 1936 - March 5th, 2025
Patricia Marie Deines passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on March 5, 2025. She was born January 22, 1936, in Edmund Oklahoma to John O. Walter and Willa (Lawson) Walter, the fifth of eight children. The family moved to Cheyenne in 1940 and then to Loveland in 1942. Pat attended schools in Loveland and graduated from Loveland High School in 1954. Pat was married to Jon E. Deines of Berthoud in 1956 and they made their life together farming west of Berthoud until his passing in 2015.
Pat was an avid reader through out her life, daily consuming the local newspaper and a part of her current favorite novel. The love for reading led Pat to be a librarian at the Loveland Public Library during high school and several years after. She passed this love of reading to her children, taking them weekly to the library to choose books and reading to them, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She read thousands of books over the years even up to the time of her passing.
Pat was an accomplished seamstress and fashioned all manner of clothing for her family along with quilting and needle point work. From her collection of materials and patterns there seemed to be an endless line of shirts, dresses, costumes, doll clothes and priceless gifts to her children and grandchildren.
Pat was a baptized into Christ as a young girl. Following her marriage, she worshiped many years with her family at the First Presbyterian Church in Berthoud.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jon, brothers Bill, John, Jim and Henry Walter, sister Elizabeth Richers, son Terry Deines and grandson Jace Deines. She is survived by brothers Bob (Jo Ann) and Dick (Helen) Walter, sister-in-law Caroline Walter, daughter Tammy (David) Schaal, son Tim (Laura) Deines, seven grandchildren Erin (Mark) Mazza, Sara (Will) Phillips, Mitch (Terra) Deines, Cole Deines, Trevor (Sarah) Deines, Cade (Allison) Deines, Braden Deines, six great grandchildren Cooper (Brook) Mazza, Tatum (Ruvim) Dorokhov and Teague Mazza, Isabel (Malachi) Drago, Leila Phillips, Theo and Harrison Deines, Asa Deines, and one great great grandson Slaed Mazza.
Services will be held on March 14, 2025 at Viegut Funeral Home at 11:00 am with internment at Berthoud Greenlawn Cemetery.
