In Loving Memory
Michael A. Snelling, Sr. of Lexington, SC, passed away March 8, 2025, with his wife and 7 children by his side. He was born in Columbia, SC to Sara and Arthur Snelling on November 22, 1947.
Michael was a proud graduate of Olympia High School (Class of 1966). In 1968, he was drafted into the US Army where he proudly served his country at Camp Enari, in Pleiku, Vietnam. He was a Purple Heart recipient. Michael was employed at Westinghouse Nuclear for 41 years, he retired in 2012. His most recent and favorite job was as a Granddaddy/Papa/Peepaw. He loved fishing with his grandchildren, chasing around the littlest ones, and getting a front row seat to their lives. Michael was an avid Gamecock fan, there wasn't a game he'd miss or a score he didn't know.
He married Denise, his forever love, on December 29, 2001. He has 7 children, Michael Jr. (Tracey), Tyler (Stephanie), Brandy (Bryan), Caspar (Allison), Nathan Galub (Erika), Ginelle Jackson (Eddie), Grant Galub (Becki) and many grandchildren (Caleb, Logan, Tori, Cole, Katy, Shelby, Matthew, Scarlett, Seth, Rusty, Lexie, Tank, Brianna, Nicholas, Elliana, Brooks, Addy, Cole, Aniston, Dawsyn, Oaklyn, Brady, and Cooper) whom he loved and adored. He was also lucky enough to have a best friend, Alfred Young, for more than 40 years. He is survived by his brother, Larry (Marlene) and sister, Debbie Snelling, and sister-in-law, Mary Jane Snelling. Others that loved and will miss Michael dearly are his cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends who have continuously shown love for him.
Michael is predeceased by his mother and father, Arthur and Sara Snelling, his brother, Richard, and the mother of his children, Linda Kay Snelling.
