Michael K. Warner, 83, departed this life peacefully on March 8, 2025, at Briar Creek Health Center at the Barclay.

Michael leaves his step-sons, Dr. Christopher Boe (David Scire) and Shawn Boe, his grandson, Shaun Boe, as well as many close friends and his church family at New Life MCC to treasure his memory.

Born on October 4, 1941, in Alameda, CA, Michael was the only child of the late Hollis and Jane Warner. As a child, he had the opportunity to live in several different places, including St. Louis, Honolulu, and Miami, where his father was a member of the US Coast Guard.  Michael graduated with a degree in architecture from North Carolina State University.  Upon graduation, he spent the majority of his career at Odell Associates where he worked on corporate and commercial projects.  He finished his career at Design Strategies where he continued his work specializing in healthcare facility design.

Away from the duties of his work, Michael found great joy in music.  He sang as a member of the Opera Carolina Chorus, the Goodfellows Choir, and several church choirs.  He also enjoyed attending the theatre, choral performances, and other arts activities with his family and friends.  Time on the lake was also a pastime he enjoyed.  Michael was an active member and leader in his church where he served in various roles on the board of directors.   Michael thoroughly enjoyed the time he was able to spend traveling. Whether those were family trips to New York or Minnesota, or vacation trips to Mexico, the Caribbean, Palm Springs, Alaska, Great Britain, Norway, or Italy, he always returned with great memories and new friends.  Friendships were especially important to Michael.  He valued the people with whom he was able to spend time.  He enjoyed debate, dialogue, and dinners with many different groups.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hollis and Jane Warner, and his spouse, Curtis Boe.

A service in celebration of Michael’s life will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 11:00am in the sanctuary of All Saints Episcopal Church, 1201 South New Hope Road, Gastonia, NC with the Rev. Dawn Flynn (New Life Metropolitan Community Church) and Rev. Sherri Barnes (St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church) presiding.  The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.  Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael’s memory may be made to the Humane Society of Charlotte, 1348 Parker Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208 or https://humanesocietyofcharlotte.org/give or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Michael’s family would like to thank the caregiving staff at CareWeavers, Blue Dot Cares and Briar Creek Health Center for the kind, compassionate, and quality care provided to Michael through his final transition.
