Brian Matthew Wanner, 57, of Middleton, Idaho, passed away on March 6, 2025, in Zapata, Texas.

Brian was born on September 20, 1967, in Roseville, California, to Walter and Saundra (Hunemiller) Wanner.  Brian was the youngest of two children.

Brian enjoyed his early childhood in Roseville, and when he was four the family moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho. The family spent many weekends camping in the Island Park area, and Brian spent time learning to fish for trout with his dad, developed a love for snow and spent countless hours playing in nearby Tautphaus Park.

In 1973 Brian and his family moved to Melba, Idaho, where he attended school for a short time before the family moved to Boise, where he spent much of his childhood. He attended Maranatha Christian School, graduating in 1985. During these years, he learned to snow ski, and later became an instructor for young kids, enticing them to follow him down the hill because he carried a backpack with candy. He also found the sport of snowmobiling, was an excellent rider and was always up for backcountry adventure.

After graduation, Brian entered the construction industry and started his own construction company, joining many family members involved in custom home building in the Treasure Valley. He met and married Kathy Dodero on May 11, 1991. Together, he and Kathy later took over his parent’s construction company, Statewide Construction, and welcomed their son Andrew Wanner into the world on April 7, 1994. They later divorced after 16 years of marriage.

After several years, Brian met and married Cindee Savins on June 27, 2015. Brian then started a new journey working for McMillen Construction and later Barnard Construction for many years as a Project Superintendent.  His positions took him to numerous locations in the United States, the latest being Zapata, Texas, where the border wall is being constructed. He supervised several large construction sites and enjoyed the vastness of the border wall project.  When he was home in Idaho, Brian and Cindee spent their time with family in Idaho City, where they camped, fished, took many RZR rides and saw other family members on holidays.  Brian and Cindee also enjoyed travelling to Nascar races.

Brian lived his life with an adventurous spirit and loved the outdoors, whether boating, water or jet skiing, snowmobiling or fishing.  He had a penchant for motorized speed and the thrill of victory, his son often accompanying him.

On a personal level, he was loving and generous to those close to him and always had a soft spot for kids and dogs, including his Aussie “Bandit.”

Brian is preceded in death by his father, Walt, his grandparents Elmer and Virginia Hunemiller, Grandma Emma Wanner, Uncles Leanord Wanner, Ed Wanner, Dave Hunemiller, Chuck Black and Gary Hunemiller, Aunt JoAnn Stuhr, and cousins Jeff and Scott Stuhr.

Brian is survived in death by his wife Cindee, son Andrew (Jacque), mother Saundra, sister Lisa (John), nephew Dustan Powell, stepdaughters Nicole (Randy), Mikayala (Brandon), and step grandchildren Gavin, Luka, Milla and Inessa, Aunts Bonnie Black, Lorraine Hunemiller, and Beth Hunemiller, Uncles Russ Hunemiller (Karen) and Bill Stuhr, as well as many cousins and friends.

We Entrusted Brian Wanner's Care To

Accent Funeral Home

A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
