Bette Ann Hollenbeck
December 6th, 1938 - February 12th, 2025
I love you, I love you more, I love you the most!
Bette Ann Hollenbeck, 86, of Orange, California passed away on February 12, 2025. Bette was born on December 6th, 1938 in Charleston, Arkansas to Walter Fay and Nell May (McSpadden) Hawkins. In 1948 the family moved to California and settled originally in the Costa Mesa area. Walter and Nell, along with Walter's sister and brother-in-law, bought a farm down in Costa Mesa where they raised chickens. They sold chickens to the Knott's family for Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant. The family then moved to Santa Ana.
Bette started working at sixteen at Guard's Drug Store as a soda jerk. When she was 23 years old, she married Guy Phillip Hollenbeck on August 11th, 1962. They had one daughter, Dona Kay. Her husband was killed in a construction accident, when Dona was only 18 months old. She was a hard working, single mother for most of her life. Bette eventually began working for First American Title Company, where she worked for over 40 years.
Bette is survived by her daughter, Dona Kay Bannon, her granddaughters, Katie Gano and Kari Jones. She is also survived by her sisters, Barbara Woods and Martha Hunt, and brother, Stephen Hawkins, and several nieces and nephews. But her greatest love was her great-grandchildren, Dorothy Faye, Magnolia and Colt. Bette was preceded in death by her parents, Walter F. and Nell M. Hawkins, and her husband, Guy P. Hollenbeck.
Bette was a very generous and kind-hearted woman, and took care of those she loved very much.
I love you, I love you more, I love you the most!
