Mark Wesley Rundquist was born January 22, 1954 in Newman Grove, Nebraska, to Delbert H. and Bertha Ann (Kachel) Rundquist. He was baptized into the Christian faith at the Methodist Church on October 16, 1954. When he was still quite young, his family moved to Storm Lake, Iowa, where he spent his formative years. His family later moved to Casper, Wyoming, where he attended junior and most of senior high school, and finally settled in Golden, Colorado, where he graduated from Golden High School in 1972. After a short stint with the Golden Water Department, he began his career as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service, working out of the Golden Post Office for over 41 years. Upon retirement, he worked a few years as a part-time attendant at the Lakewood Recycling Center.

After a short whirlwind romance, he married Rebecca (Becky) Louise Schulz on July 5, 1980 at St. James Lutheran Church in Golden, Colorado, with her father Pastor Herold A. Schulz officiating. Mark and Becky were blessed with a daughter, April Ann Rundquist, on April 3, 1984.

Mark was confirmed into the Lutheran faith on January 12, 1992 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Golden, where he has been an active member ever since, serving in various capacities and singing in the choir.

Mark’s many interests included music, history, reading, old movies and mysteries, taking walks in Morse Park, and spending time with family and friends.

Mark was called home to glory March 12, 2025. He is survived by his wife Becky and daughter April, brother Tim Rundquist and his wife Chris, sister Linda Bone, brother-in-law Roger Port and his wife Sheila, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Diane Port, and brother-in-law Tim Bone.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 21 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Golden. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church or The Action Center in Lakewood.
