Anthony Frank Mendes
February 20th, 1941 - March 9th, 2025
In Loving Memory
Anthony Frank “Tony” Mendes, beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and friend, passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025, after a lengthy illness.
Tony was born in February of 1941 in Lemoore, California, to Manuel and Mary, started school and graduated from Lemoore High School in 1959.
Tony moved his family to Salinas around 1967 and worked for Firestone and Sturdy Oil for over 16 years.
After moving to Prunedale, and after the demise of his father, he opened and ran Tony’s Auto Repair, where he could fix anything and everything for anyone and everybody.
He met and married his love Ann in April of 1992, and were together for 33 years. Tony loved spending time with his family and friends. His charm and wit, along with the ever-present cigar, which he never inhaled, will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Predeceased by parents, Sister Marie, Brother Manuel, and his oldest son Anthony Frank Mendes Jr. (Buzz), he is survived by his wife Ann, son Doug, Daughters Suzanne, and Christine and grandchildren Michael, Dustin, Blake and Matthew, along with great grandchildren, and two stepdaughters Cathy and Cindy.
The family would like to thank the staff at Windsor Care Center for their many acts of kindness during this time of deep sadness and sorrow.
Private burial services will be held at a later time.
Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

We Entrusted Anthony Mendes's Care To
Healey Mortuary
At Healey, we treat our Salinas Valley community members like family. Our story begins after World War II when Veteran Herbert C. Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
