Memorial

Barbara Ray was born on February 19, 1931, and she passed away peacefully in her home on March 19, 2025.

Barbara married Richard Ray in 1952, and they had three daughters together.  In 1971, the family moved from California to Vale, Oregon, and purchased the Bi-Rite Variety store.  In 1977, Barbara went to work for and helped set up the Bi-Mart store in Ontario.  She worked there until her retirement in 1997.

Barbara was a lifetime and active member of the Golden Chain Order of the Eastern Star and the Vale Senior/Community Center.  She was an integral part in getting the new building in Vale.  She was the President multiple times.  Nearly every day, she could be found there playing cards, working the store, or helping with something.

She is survived by her daughters:  Debbie Fulwyler, Denise (Joe) Whittenburg, and Diane Hyde.  Also, her seven grand-"Darlings", Bridget (Mike) Harberts, Robin (Jay) Robbins, Katrina (Russ) Dayton, Justin Fulwyler, Jasin (Amy) Fulwyler, Mandy (Tyson) Fladung, and Cody (janessa) Hyde.  Sixteen great-grand darlings and four great-greats, Steve Fulwyler and Randy Hyde.

She was preceded in death by Richard, her parents, her sister, and great-granddaughter, and special son Mike Alden.

A special thank you to Sherian Chard for her faithful friendship.  Private family services will be at a later date.

Over the years, the business has grown and had a number of owners, partnerships and names. Among them was our current namesake, the Lienkaemper family, who purchased the family funeral home with the mission of helping families in the Ontario community. ...
