Betty Jo Anderson
September 1, 1938 – March 20, 2025
With heavy heart, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Betty Anderson. Mom was born in Exeter, Missouri, on September 1; she is the fourth out of five children in the family of Clellie and Alta Sissel. She was preceded in death by her parents and her four siblings, Gene, Ruthele, Eunia, and Shirley.
Betty married Wayne Anderson on July 2, 1955 and together they had four children; Mike (Tami) Anderson, Jerry (Sara) Anderson, Angie (Bret) Anderson-Uptmor and Barb (Todd) Anderson-Higinbotham.
Mom had many talents as a painter, decorator, quilter, home decorator and remodeler. She was never afraid to try a new hobby and typically excelled at anything she tried. She always had a project going and one on her mind at all times!
Betty loved the Lord and was a founding member of St Paul Lutheran Church in Ontario, OR. She taught Sunday School when her kids were small. Later, she taught adult bible study for many years and loved every minute of it. She spent a lot of time reading the Bible and was one of God’s true saints.
Betty took up quilting and made dozens of beautiful quilts. They are hanging in her home, in her cabin, and she made a point to make a quilt for each of her children. She coordinated a quilt at St Paul Lutheran Church and had many of the congregation make a block. That quilt still hangs in the church and holds an important place in her heart.
Betty had an extensive friend group that included life-long friends, school classmates, new friends, and many more people who knew and loved her. She loved having coffee on Fridays with her coffee group, attending church on Sundays with her church friends and acquaintances, and sharing a meal with various family members. Mom will be missed at every family event in the future, but she will be remembered with great love and fondness.
The family would like to thank Davita (Dr. Hunt, Megan, and Ashley), Dr. Gering and his staff and Heart and Home Hospice (Alondra) for their care and compassion for mom. This would have been a much harder journey without their support. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Paul Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
Funeral services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, (842 Alameda Drive, Ontario), Monday, March 31 at 11 a.m. Lunch will be provided after the service.

Lienkaemper Funeral Chapel-Ontario
For over 100 years, the Lienkaemper Funeral Chapel has served the Ontario, Oregon, community with professional, compassionate care. Our story begins in 1907 when the Peterson family, who owned a furniture store in Ontario, helped with funeral arrangements and sold caskets from the store’s basement. Over the years, the business has grown and had a number of owners, partnerships and names. Among them was our current namesake, the Lienkaemper family, who purchased the family funeral home with the mission of helping families in the Ontario community. ...
