Fred W. Stoll
September 4th, 1947 - March 25th, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Fred Stoll, who left us peacefully on March 25 at the age of 77, after a courageous 3 ½ year battle with cancer. Fred lived a life full of love, laughter, and meaningful connections. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gottlob and Elise Stoll and beloved dogs, Odie and Scruffie. He was a devoted father to Rick and Amanda; father-in-law to Bill; Opa (grandfather) to Billy, Elin, Jennie, Erick, and Morgan; brother to Lillian Kipp; and friend and colleague to many, leaving a lasting legacy that will never be forgotten.
Fred had an unwavering passion for spending time with his grandchildren. His face would especially light up with pride watching them play sports. Whether it was on the baseball diamond, the basketball court, or the soccer field, he was always their biggest supporter, not shy to tell anyone nearby who his grandchild was.
An avid traveler, Fred loved exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and creating memories from an admirable list of destinations across Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America. Some of his favorites included archeological digs in Israel, experiencing a safari in Tanzania, climbing Manchu Pichu, visiting the Great Pyramids, and hiking the Great Wall of China. No matter where he went, he brought his infectious smile, inquisitive questions, and positive attitude, leaving a trail of warm memories wherever he went.
A lifelong New York Yankees fan, Fred started a family tradition of traveling to spring training in Tampa that continues to this day after more than 20 years of watching games and practices, collecting foul balls, and getting player autographs. Just this last year, he was able to enjoy a World Series game with his children, Rick and Amanda.
Similar to his personal life, Fred was successful in his professional career. As the son of German immigrants, he was the first in his family to achieve an undergraduate education and advanced to earn his MBA and CPA, excelling in personal and corporate accounting. He helped many people navigate their own taxes and worked as a corporate controller for multiple organizations. As his career advanced, he became a well-respected authority on SEC reporting for German corporations, affording him the opportunity to immerse himself in his parent’s native German culture and travel the European continent. Throughout his career, Fred was known for his work ethic, leadership, and dedication to making a difference for all those around him. His kindness, wisdom, and generosity of spirit made him a true friend and mentor to many, including lifelong friends from New Jersey and a young, inspired accounting team in Germany that looked up to him with reverence. After retirement he built meaningful relationships with his friends at Apostles Lutheran Church, spent countless hours helping at the Food Pantry at his church, and enjoyed many walks with the “puppy patrol” in his neighborhood.
Above all, Fred had a unique ability to make people feel good about themselves. His warmth, positivity, generous giving of time, and infectious laughter brightened every room he entered. He was the kind of person who made others feel seen, heard, and appreciated, and his genuine kindness will be deeply missed.
