Mary Karla Romero was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on April 1 1955 where she did have a rough upbringing. She was given up for adoption by her mother Lola Hall but later in life got to mend that relationship.  She graduated from Albuquerque High in 1973 with plans on going to the military but life had other plans.  She also graduated from CNM as a CNA and went on to work as a med tech at Presbyterian Hospital in the children's ward.  This is where she met Linda Hopkins who became her best friend and the sister she never had.  The two decided to move to Palo Alto California (which she loved) where she started her family as she was already pregnant with her oldest child.  Karla as she was known by most and Mom to many said she didn't know how to love until she had her children. She had three children Christopher Charles Romero, Jason Ryan Hobbs Sr., and Carlina (Lina) Marie Romero.  Although she loved her boys she was over the moon when she had her daughter Lina and her family was complete as they moved throughout the bay area.  She met Barrington Welsh early on in moving to California and later they fell in love and he not only became her spouse but a stepfather to her children. They spent many years together taking the annual family trips to Lake Tahoe and to San Francisco Giants ball games. Barrington (Pops) loved Karla and the kids very much and has always been there for all of us to this day. Landing in Milpitas CA in 1989 this became home.  Karla made roots in Milpitas with her children and gained an extended family there.  She worked in electronics for over 30 years and retired at Omniyig after 18 years.  It was hard to get Karla to move from California because she loved it.  She did have a brief stint in Las Vegas before returning to Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by Linda Hopkins (sister), Ernest Hobbs (father of Jason), Everette Castle (God Brother), niece Shavon Twitty, Randy Hines (her best friend later in life), Lola Hall (mother), aunt Marcy Planner, uncle Harry Planner, and cousin Beverly Rodarte. She is survived by sons Christopher Romero and Jason Hobbs, daughter Carlina (Lina) Romero, grandchildren Jason Hobbs Jr. great granddaughter Jaynysia Hobbs, Jadiah Hobbs, Romeo Johnathon Romero, grandson Telyith Hopkins, great grandson Brylin Hopkins, Samantha Hopkins, great granddaughters Zaniah Hopkins, Kalayiah James, great grandson Aceyon James, niece Veronica Hopkins, nephew Louis Wilson, daughter in law Deanne Hobbs, godson Andre Delgado, cousin Donna Sedillo (more like a little sister), sister Carol Weinle, nephew Christopher Weinle, Jeremy Weinle, and a host of aunties and cousins. She adopted, in her own way, Calvin Smith of Milpitas CA and Bruce Fuell of Albuquerque NM.  Linda's children Veronica, Deanne, Shavon, and Louis meant the world to her. Karla will truly be missed as she loved life and did so much for others in their time of need. Opening her home to many and that is why she is known as Mom to so many.  On February 6th she went on to be with the Lord but will never be forgotten.

Memorial services will be hosted by Veronica Hopkins and Queshia Spencer at 204 Glorieta St Albuquerque, NM, 87123 at 12pm.
