Farley Funeral Homes and Crematory - Venice
Dorothy Ellen Key
January 29th, 1933 - March 29th, 2025
Dorothy Ellen Arwood Brown Key
Dorothy entered the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 29, 2025.
She was born in Skeggs, Virginia on January 29, 1933 to parents Jesse Arwood and Susie Keen Arwood.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Sandra Brown Neahusan, Grandson, Brandon (Jaime) Neahusan, Granddaughter, Kara (Joel) Strahan and Great-grandson, Tyler Strahan.
She spent a large part of her life in Flint Michigan working as a physical therapy assistant and serving in her church. After retirement she and her husband Floyd worked in a nursing home ministry, AWANA program, community outreach and cooking and serving countless church dinners.
After moving to Venice, Florida in 2014 she was a member of Colonial Baptist Church. She was not able to serve there due to physical limitations but attended as often as was possible. The move made it possible for Sandra to help care for her and for Dorothy to spend more time with her Granddaughter’s family and see Tyler grow up.
Gone ahead to greet her are her parents, Jesse Arwood in 1941 and Susie Arwood Lester in 2013. Also her sister, Alice Brown and her brothers J.B. Arwood and Teddy Lester, husbands Harry Brown and Floyd Key, Son-in-law Ronald Neahusan and Brothers-in-law Robert Hagy and Ervin Brown. Surviving are sisters, Connie (Shorty) Ratliff, Judy Hagy, Tom (Theresa) Lester, Dwight (Maretta) Lester and Sister-in-law Kathy Lester.
A Memorial Service will be at Colonial Baptist Church, 2400 Taylor Ranch Trail, Venice, Florida on Monday, April 14, 2025 at 11:00 AM officiated by Pastor Kerry Feathers.
Interment at Greenhills Memory Garden, Claypool, Virginia at a later date.
