John "Jack" Richard Bergan

Tucson - John (Jack) Richard Bergan departed Earth on March 24, 2025. Those who have known Jack will remember his dedication to education and the field of school psychology, his deep love of family, his vision and problem-solving brilliance, his piano and vocal abilities, and his never-ending appetite for learning and interest in his fellow learners. Jack earned a Bachelor's degree from Kalamazoo College, his Master's at Wayne State University, and finally his Doctorate in Education and Psychology at the University of Michigan. Jack went on to become a professor at both University of Kansas and U of A, an author of six graduate student textbooks, and an entrepreneur of Assessment Technology Incorporated. Beyond his work, Jack was a life-long athlete ranging from diving to running to tennis to golf. Above all, Jack was a family man devoted to his wife of 70 years, Kathryn; to his son John, who preceded him in death; and to his son, David. Later in life he was joined by both daughters-in-law Kerrie and Michele, and devoted to his grandchildren Claire, Sean, and Oliver. Celebration of Life Services will be held at Bring's Broadway Chapel on Saturday, April 5, with visitation at 12:30 and service at 1:30. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to MD Anderson Cancer Center or TMC Hospice.
