Gaye Lynn Scheafer, age 77, of Colorado Springs, CO, passed away peacefully on March 25th, 2025, at UCHealth Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 23rd, 1947, in Long Island, NY, to Leonard B. and Mary Jo Storm. Gaye had a distinguished 29-year career in higher education, working in the Financial Aid office at Colorado College. She was deeply passionate about helping students and enjoyed meeting them throughout her years of service. She retired in 2016 as the Assistant Director of Financial Aid.

Outside of work, Gaye had a variety of interests that brought her joy. She loved attending Colorado College Hockey games, going to church on Saturdays, and spending time shopping at Ross. She was also an avid decorator and took great pride in making her home a warm and inviting place. Above all, Gaye treasured the time she spent visiting her grandchildren and great-granddaughter in Virginia, creating memories that will be cherished forever.

Gaye was known for her sweet disposition, contagious positivity, and the best hugs anyone could ever receive. She loved her family deeply, and her kindness and warmth will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband Anthony R. Scheafer; daughter Lisa Wilson (Jay); stepsons Robert Scheafer, Daniel Scheafer, and Curt Scheafer (Kayla); grandchildren Jaela Munson (McKenzie), Mya Warren (Devon), Christian Scheafer, Cormac Scheafer; great-granddaughter Rylee Munson; sister Nicole Brian (Byron); nephew Tyler Brian; great-niece Lilly Brian; and a host of other beloved friends and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents Leonard B. and Mary Jo Storm, her son Delaney Utterback, and her sister Janet Lee Voorkamp.

A memorial service to celebrate Gaye's life will be held at 10:30 AM on April 10th at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, followed by a short reception at the church. Interment will take place at Pikes Peak National Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
