Karen A. Konik, affectionately known as "KK" went to heaven to receive her HUG from Jesus on March 31, 2025. She was born in Gloversville, New York, on October 23, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Michael "Mitch" Konik and Dea "Daisy" Darling Rehberg.

 

A lifelong Mohawk Valley resident "KK" grew up in the Amsterdam and Tribes Hill areas and was a 1961 graduate of the former Wilber H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. She then attended Cobleskill AG. & Tech. earning a AAS Degree in Secretarial Science in 1963. In 1996 she obtained an AAS Business Administration Degree from FMCC.

 

Karen was an active member of the Canajoharie Reformed Church. A former member of the Episcopal Cursillo, attending and serving on many teams. "KK" was also a registered Girl Scout for 55 years. "KK" was proud that her daughters, granddaughters and great granddaughters have also been active in Girl Scouting.

 

Karen was predeceased by her parents, her brother Michael J. (Mickey) Konik, nephew James J. (Jimmy Jack) Konik, great grandson Gabriel Crane and former husband Leon F. Walrath.

 

Survivors include her daughters Tracy (Tom) Crane from Arkansas, Tina Walrath from New York, her half-sister Valeri "Gail" (Jim) Berry of NY. Five grandchildren Troy Crane, Thomas (Deborah) Crane Jr from AR, Cara (Edward) Ruggerio, Mychell (Brian) Harrington and Cody Burton all of New York. Her eight great grandchildren Nevaeh, Caren, Devon, Brian Jr., Hailey, Emma, Ember and Thomas III.

 

A service of the Celebration of Life will take place at the Canajoharie Reformed Church Front St. Canajoharie on Saturday, April 12 at 3 pm. Visitation with the family will take place one hour prior to the service.

 

"KK" has requested that all who attend wear the bright colors of the rainbow in celebration of God's Covenant. (Genesis 9:12)

 

Interment of her cremated remains will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill NY at the convenience of the family. 

 

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Canajoharie Reformed Church, Office of the Aging in Amsterdam, NY, or St Johnsville Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center.
