Yorgi Borboroglu

Yorgi Borboroglu, 89, of Merritt Island Florida passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 30th 2025 at Cape Canaveral Hospital. Born on May 19th. 1935, in Istanbul, Turkey to Prodromos and Efrosini Borboroglu, Yorgi immigrated to the United States of America in the 1950’s along with the rest of his immediate and extended family to pursue the American Dream. He attended Yale University and acquired his Masters degree in Engineering after attending Robert College in Istanbul.

Yorgi’s passion for skiing introduced him to his soulmate and wife, Irene, at the Mad River Glen ski area in Waitsfield Vermont where they have been and continue to be a member of the community. His children were also introduced to skiing and they maintain a passion for it to this day. Yorgi was an avid gardener and whenever he had free time he enjoyed being outdoors and cutting down the occasional tree.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Irene; his children, Prody (Arden) Borboroglu. Peter (Liz) Borboroglu, and Stephen Borboroglu (Daniel Vincent); and 6 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Penelope Ververeli.

A funeral service will be held on July 10th 2025 in Fayston Vermont at the South Fayston Cemetery on Bragg Hill Road. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the  Stark Mountain Foundation for improvements to the skiing experience at the Mad River Glen Ski Area.
