James Allen Woodward Jr., aged 67, of Summerville, SC, fulfilled his marriage vows on March 28, 2025, when he woke up in the arms of Jesus. Born on December 14, 1957, in Wilmington NC. He enlisted in the Army on 04/01/1975 at the United States Army Training Center Fort Jackson South Carolina where he Graduated Basic Training with the First Training Brigade Third Battalion. Serving his country with distinction and honor achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant G Company 3rd Aviation Regiment on 10/22/87. During his 20-year career James earned numerous awards including the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal 2nd OLC and the Master Aircraft Crewman Badge prior to his retirement 04/01/1995 at Fort Rucker Alabama. After his military career, James worked for the New Brockton Police Dept and the Town of Enterprise, Ala. where he retired a second time.

James is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth B. Woodward, stepbrother Terry Johnson (Stephanie), children James Robert Woodward (Kristie) and Gracie Mae Woodward, stepchildren Kohl Mora (Maes), Angelique Bunton, and Charles Bunton, and six grandchildren. He also leaves behind his "brother" Wayne Bray, "sister-in-law" Kelley McCrimmon (Edwin), nieces Jessica Patton (Miles), Christy Webster (Jeremy), Trishia Harper (Bruce), Lynne Johnson and nephews Justin Pruitt, Duane Johnson (Bree). He was preceded in death by his parents, James A. Woodward Sr. and Frances White Washington and his sister Cindy Pruitt.

James attended Summerville Church of the Nazarene, where he found a community of faith and fellowship. As a child his favorite past times were fishing and boating with his daddy. In high school he enjoyed roller skating where he met his wife Elizabeth and rode motorcycles. After retiring from the military, James continued to share his passion for Alabama football, often exclaiming "Roll Tide!" He continued riding motorcycles for fun, with the Patriot Guard Riders and the OCOS - Old Coots on Scoots. One favorite accomplishment was completing the Harley Davidson "Cruising the Coast" Passport Ride with his wife Elizabeth. Playing with the grandbabies was always an adventure like when he completed the South Carolina Ultimate Outsider program visiting all 47 SC State Parks with his wife and grandson Andrew. Then the trip traveling cross country from Summerville SC to Seattle Washington with his granddaughter Faith. He loved to travel whether to Alabama to watch games, Florida to visit Amelia Island, Daytona and Orlando or Tennessee to get married. His love for adventure included travel to other "bucket list" destinations like Helen, GA and Mt. Airy, NC.

Visitation and Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Summerville Church of the Nazarene, with a visitation at 2 pm followed by a Celebration of Life at 3 pm.

Final Internment with full military honors will be Monday 4/14/25 at the Beaufort National Cemetery at 2pm. Anyone wishing to accompany the family and Patriot Guard Rider escort should meet at the Summerville Church of the Nazarene at 11:45am
