Roy Edgar Ginn
December 3rd, 1926 - April 6th, 2025
Roy Edgar Ginn, 98, of Maplewood MN, passed peacefully into the presence of his Savior the evening of 4/6/2025. He was born on 12/3/1926 in McKeesport PA. Roy married Mary Martha “Marty” Kornman on 9/10/1949. They were married for 71 wonderful years. Roy lived a full, good, caring, and generous life. For several years, he took loving care of Marty, typical of a veteran of “the Greatest Generation.” As a strong-willed and independent man, he determined to do “right” even when it was unpopular. Roy also took care of his health by exercising. At 80 years old, Roy bought a new bicycle with Marty’s blessing. He could be seen on the trails of Maplewood and Stillwater. He frequently quoted Psalm 118:24, “This is the day that the LORD has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Those words exemplified his life.
A graduate of Penn State, in Dairy Science, Roy was an international leader in the dairy and food safety industry, co-publishing numerous scientific research papers with his colleagues. He also ministered in many ways at North Church.
He will be missed by his children, Jeffrey Ginn (Charlotte), David Ginn (deMette), Carol O’Malley (Tom), and Paula Helsper (Mike); grandchildren, Sara Frantz (Don Diez), Daniel Ginn (Shannon), Erin Ginn, Joshua Ginn, Daniel Frantz Jr. (Jessica Salvatore), Luke Ramacier, and Jacob Ramacier; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Isabella Ginn; sisters, LaVerne Shaw, Lois Day, and Harriet Kingsley; and granddaughter Sally Frantz.
Memorial Service will be 4/30/2025, 9:00AM Visitation, 10:00AM Service at North Church 2675 MN-36, North St Paul MN 55109, 651-777-4044; Rev. James York officiating. Inurnment follows at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to North Church.
