Tyrone Murphy, Sr.

Tyrone Murphy Sr., age 76, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025 at his residence in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Born on May 18, 1948, in Virginia to James Edward Murphy and Selena (Stith) Murphy. Tyrone lived a life full of service, hard work, and love for his family.

Tyrone proudly served his country as a Combat Engineer in the United States Army with two combat tours to Vietnam. His time in the military shaped much of his character and dedication, and he carried that worth ethic into his civilian life. After his service, he became a skilled heavy equipment operator in the construction industry, where he made lasting contributions to the projects he worked on.

Outside of his professional life, Tyrone enjoyed many hobbies, including playing billiards and watching competitive sports. He was also an animal lover, finding joy in the company of pets and wildlife alike. His gentle spirit and love for life made him a beloved figure to all who knew him.

Tyrone is survived by his sister, Clementine Harris of New York, New York; his brother, Joseph Stith of Baltimore, Maryland; his sister, Rose Pitt of Spotsylvania, Virginia; his daughter, Cheryl (Murphy) Wright of Maysville, North Carolina; his son Tyrone Murphy Jr. of Killeen, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025 from 2:00PM - 4:00PM at All States Cremation - Colorado Springs, 1020 E. Fillmore St. Colorado Springs, CO 80907.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), reflecting Tyrone's dedication to duty and the life long bond shared by service members both past and present.

Tyrone's memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and he will be deeply missed.
