Carmen P. Gurnik, a lifelong Arizona resident, passed away March 5, 2025 in Tucson, Arizona.
Carmen was born to Serapio and Dolores Pinedo on January 28, 1929 in Pirtleville, Arizona and resided there and on the family ranch in McNeal, Arizona until she moved to Douglas, Arizona in 1961.
She retired from the Department of the Army in Fort Huachuca, Arizona in 1985 then moved to Tucson, Arizona to be closer to her grandchildren.
Carmen was the youngest and last survivor of seven siblings, Rafael Pinedo, Isauro Pinedo, Jose Pinedo, Belen Pinedo, Angie Foley, Jennie Gomez, and Rose Pinedo. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Cunningham (Michael Benzenhoefer), two grandchildren, Shawn Cunningham (Amanda) and Cassandra Martin (Robert), and four great grandchildren, Andrew Martin, Matthew Martin, Christopher Martin and Quinn Cunningham and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carmen loved to travel and was very adventurous and she and her sister, Rose, traveled all around the United States in their motor home.
She was an avid bowler and competed in bowling tournaments all over the United States. She loved to go hiking and took her nieces and nephews along on some of her trips to Grand Canyon, Disneyland, Yellowstone Park, and British Columbia.
A rosary and mass will be held on April 25, 2025 at St. Bernard’s Parish Arizona at 10:30 a.m- 2308 N McKinley Street Pirtleville, AZ , followed by a graveside service at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Pirtleville, Arizona.
