Evelyn Loree Lolmaugh Allis was born to Joyce (Dobbs) Lolmaugh, and Robert Lolmaugh in 1947, in Marysville, CA.
She died on April 4, 2025, in Yuba City, CA, at the age of 77, after a debilitating but valiant battle with a terminal illness.
Evelyn was a beloved member of the Yuba-Sutter community, having lived the vast majority of her life in the Marysville area.
She attended both Marysville High School and Central High School in Phenix City, AL, where she graduated with honors in 1965.
She later attended Auburn University, Auburn, AL, before marrying and starting a family and long, successful career.
After returning to the Marysville, CA, area in the early 1980's, Evelyn quickly became a prized legal assistant, before being recruited into the Yuba County Superior Court system by close family friend, the late Honorable Thomas F. Mathews.
While serving as Judge Mathews' Clerk during the marathon 6-month long 1986 Yuba Flood Trial, Evelyn's sharp legal acumen gained attention.
After the trial, she received a series of rapid promotions, and quickly became Deputy Court Executive Officer, the position from which she retired in 2012, after 25 years of service to the courts.
In her younger years, Evelyn relished swimming, diving, water skiing, and horseback riding.
Her love of nature and the outdoors continued throughout her life as evidenced by her avid gardening skills. Her home was always adorned by beautiful plants and flowers.
She was beautiful, brilliant, talented, generous, compassionate, an amazing cook and host, a champion for the underdog, a master of crossword puzzles, had an infectious smile and an unsurpassed eye for interior design.
She loved family gatherings, sunsets, visiting the mountains, trivia, rooting for her alma mater Auburn University, and watching her grandchildren participate in sports, musical and theater events.
Her home was always open, beautiful, clean, welcoming, and she always had something delicious in the oven.
Evelyn loved her family and friends more than anything. She spent most of her last years admiring the pursuits of her children and grandchildren, who affectionately call her "Gramme,", and sharing time with the love of her life, Brad, with whom she shared 32 years of marriage.
Some of Evelyn's most precious years were spent living on a ranch in Timbuctoo, CA, near Smartsville, CA, in a large century-old home she had always admired as a child.
It was there that she and Brad created a paradise for family and friends to visit, surrounded by lush grounds, gardens, ponds, working pastures and stunning views of the Yuba River and Sutter Buttes.
Evelyn leaves behind her beloved husband, Brad Allis; children, David (Mary) Ingram of Sacramento, CA, Damon Ingram of Pueblo, CO, Chris (Meggan) Mathews of Yuba City, CA, and Christina Allis of Yuba City, CA; sisters, Nancy Rogers, Sacramento, CA, Kathryn Lolmaugh, Phenix City, AL, and Lois Cameron, Loma Rica, CA; her beautiful grandchildren, Michael, Sam, Evy, Brenlee and Logan; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Darin Ingram; and son, Michael Allis.
Services will be held at 10 AM, on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Sutter Cemetery, 7200 Butte Ave, Sutter, CA. A private reception will follow in Yuba City, CA.
