Giovanni Mattessich

 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Giovanni Mattessich, who left us on April 12, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on December 16, 1930, in Chiusi, Italy, Giovanni was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion. 

Giovanni was predeceased by his beloved wife, Caterina, and his parents, Nicolo and Anna Mattessich. He is survived by his two loving children, Nicholas Mattessich (Mary Ann) and Anna Maria Varga. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Christina Ladick, Eric Mattessich, Bob, Tom, and Leanne Varga, as well as his great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Declan, and Grace Ladick, and Giovanni Mattessich. 

A longshoreman by trade, Giovanni dedicated his life to hard work and supported his family through various side jobs. He was a man of simple pleasures, who found joy in growing his own vegetables and was an avid baseball fan, passionately following the Yankees, Mets, and Rays. Giovanni also enjoyed engaging with Italian word search puzzles and relished his favorite dessert, tiramisu, alongside his beloved Tic Tac candy.

Giovanni's remarkable spirit and warmth will be sorely missed by all who knew him. His family will forever treasure the memories created with him, and he will remain in their hearts as a pillar of strength and compassion. The family expresses their gratitude for all the kind thoughts and condolences during this difficult time.
