Edward Joseph Koenig

Edward Joseph Koenig,72, of Maplewood, passed away on April 7, 2025. 

Celebration of Life to be held at Treasure Island Casino, Red Wing, MN on Friday, June 13th.  Welcome reception at 5:00PM, with ceremony at 6:00PM followed by dinner and some gambling.  One of Ed’s favorite things! All are welcome. 

Ed enjoyed poker nights with his friends and brothers, breakfast with his son Jason, running, soccer, casino trips, walks with his dogs Bella and Cash, looking at things from every angle and most of all doing ANYTHING to help his family.  He found extra special joy in helping his granddaughters Hailey and Jenna. 

Edward was born to Joseph and Audrey Koenig on January 8, 1953. He attended St. Luke’s grade school and graduated from Cretin High School in 1971.  He graduated from the University of Minnesota in accounting and went on to work as a CPA for Saint Paul Ramsey Hospital and Health Partners.  He married twice to Patricia Lynn Cole and Linda Marie Barron. 

Edward is survived by his son, Jason (Shane Montoya) Koenig; stepchildren, Cory Barron, Breana Barron, Megan Barron; grandchildren, Hailey Walsh, Jenna (Sean) Kangas, Amarie Del Rio; twelve siblings, Mary (Merle) Davis, James Koenig, Joseph (Lisa) Koenig, Mark (Monica) Koenig, Susan (Thomas) Severin, Michael Koenig, Margaret (Dean) Halverson, Teresa (John) Kendrick, Helen (Thomas) McDonough, Patricia (Allen) Matara, Robert (Emily) Koenig, Ann (Jeffrey) Anaya; an uncle and aunts; and many other loving relatives and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Audrey Koenig; grandparents; spouse, Patricia Lynn Cole; nephew, Ryan Matara; and his faithful pup, Bella.
