Rosalio "Charlie" Bernal

Rosalio “Charlie” Bernal was a loving son, loyal brother, devoted husband, a proud father, a beloved grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is preceded in death by his father, Cipriano Bernales Martinez, and mother, Maria Chavez Lozano.
Though many knew him as “Charlie,” his favorite title - the one that brought him the most joy - was Grandpa.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Juanita Dolores Martinez, the love of his life, whom he called Juanita. Together, they built a legacy filled with love, family, and memories.
He is survived by his two sons, Charlie Bernal (Angie) and Jose Antonio Bernal (wife and kids); and his only daughter, “Yolie” Yolanda B. G. Rodriguez (Everardo “Lalo”); ten grandchildren: Enrique Havice, Jose Villanueva, Brianna Bernal, Charlie “Cisco” Bernal, Jose “JoJo” Bernal Jr., Irene “Nene” Pereira, Michael Bernal, Jazmin “Jazzy” Bernal, Javier “Chalio” Capuchino, and Cecilia “Cece” Capuchino; fourteen great grandchildren: Jeremiah Havice, Aubree Hernandez, Henry Havice, Elijah Smith, Julian Bernal, Kamani Smith, Mila Havice, DaQuan Smith, Camila Coronel, Lennis Smith, Luna Coronal, Santiago Bernal, Azekiel Bernal, and Joniah Smith; bonus daughter, his “Jewel es una Joya”, Doreen O'Brien; and Kevin Page, “He's a good guy!”, always there to help him and whom he respected greatly.
He is survived by his older sister, Josefina, and younger brother, Juan, whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his beloved siblings: Tolano, Victor, Chencho, Jose Antonio “el cuate de Juan”, Timoteo “Timio”, Benita, Primitiva “Prima”, Candelaria “Candela”, Francisco “Pancho”, Jose Angel “Grande”, Jose Angel “Chico”, and Maria.

A viewing will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025, from 5-8:00 pm, with a rosary to begin at 7:00 pm, at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, 624 Cleveland Blvd. in Caldwell. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 1122 W. Linden Street in Caldwell, with a graveside service to follow at Greenleaf Cemetery.
