Oliver W. “Bud” Thorman of Carlton, MN, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at his home. He was born January 24, 1934 to Walter and Margaret Thorman, in Jamestown, ND. The family had a grain and beef farm by Woodworth, ND in which he attended a country school, later years attending school in Jamestown.

 

Bud came to the Carlton area in 1952, joining the Army Reserve in 1957, doing basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO and after that spending the rest of his time in Fort Bliss, TX. Bud drove truck for Transport Inc, retiring in 1984. After that dealing in real estate. He loved to travel, seeing the country in his motor home. Spending the winter months in Mesa, AZ.

 

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Margaret Thorman; brother, Lyle Thorman; half brother, Lenard Weege; sisters, Mabel Prodzinski and Lucille Orvis; and grandson, Hunter Thorman.

 

Bud’s family includes: son, Scot (Lynette) Thorman of Carlton, MN; daughters, Nancy (Greg) Monfeldt of Barnum, MN and Elizabeth Thorman (David Schulte) of Upsala, MN; grandsons, Travis, Tyler, Spencer, Tanner, Hunter, MacGuier, Sawyer, Grant, and Myles; granddaughter, MacKenzie; 15 great grandchildren; special companion, Shirley Thorman of Carlton, MN; special caregiver, Kim Foreman of Sartell, MN and Amy (Sean) Anderson of Pequot Lakes, MN.

 

The family would like to give a special thanks to St. Croix Hospice for all the support and care.
