Lucy A. Hawkins
November 17th, 1952 - April 23rd, 2025
Lucy A. (Jones) Hawkins, 72, of Jamesville, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, after a brief illness.
She was born in Syracuse, grew up in Marcellus, and graduated from Marcellus High School in 1971. She was married to Hugh J. Hawkins Sr. for over 50 years, and for most of that time they resided in Jamesville, where they raised their two sons, Hugh Jr. and Matthew.
She worked at Chip’s Deli in Southwood for several years before spending much of her career with Onondaga County Parks. She loved being outdoors, helping others, and nature and animal photography. She was a stained-glass artist, enjoyed crafting and being creative, a talented quilter for the Jamesville Museum and was a member of the Friends of Jamesville Beach. She also volunteered for and was a member of the Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK), was an avid hiker, enjoyed cycling, cross-country skiing, and participated in several fundraising walks for cancer research. She enjoyed working at Jamesville Balloon Fest every year. Lucy loved her family dearly, was hard-working, dedicated, generous, energetic, kind, selfless, and made friends wherever she went.
She is predeceased by her husband, Hugh J. Hawkins Sr.; parents, Charles B. Jones Sr., and Jacqueline M. (Bonner) Jones; brother Charles B. Jones Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Kellie A. Carlton-Hawkins, and her step-mother, Helen Jones.
She is survived by her sons, Hugh J. (Nicole) Hawkins Jr. and Matthew K. Hawkins; a sister, Mary K. (Jon Travers) Jones and a brother, William R Jones; several step-siblings; in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews; three grand fur-babies; and many friends.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no services.
