We are heartbroken to share that Richard Anthony Moss-Solomon, age 68, of Port Charlotte, FL passed away on April 28th, 2025. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. Everyone knew him for his kind heart, compassion, and dedication to those that he loved.

Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Richard grew up in Kingston and went on to move to North Carolina before settling in Port Charlotte, FL. Richard believed in giving back to his community and dedicated his free time to the Charlotte County Soccer Federation for the past 20 years, where he was on the board, a certified referee, a referee assignor, and referee mentor. Richard loved traveling with his wife, Katie, and his family, recently having spent time in Italy. He also loved fishing, vintage cars, and recently discovered a love for exploring the National Parks. Richard centered his life around his kids, championing their extracurriculars and cheering them on from the sidelines. He spent the last 10 years doting on his granddaughter, Blair, and making lasting memories with her.

Preceding him in death, were his parents Don and Margaritte Moss-Solomon. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Katie; children Meghan, Christopher, Juniper, and Caitlin; their significant others, Jewelisa, Jerry, and Michaela; and his cherished granddaughter, Blair. He is also survived by his siblings Helen Moss-Solomon; Alfred (Vickie) Moss-Solomon; Donna (Danny) Combs; 16 nieces and 8 nephews and 26 great nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home on May 5th, from 4-6pm. A memorial service will be held on May 6th at 10am, at St. Maximillian Kolbe Parrish in Port Charlotte, FL, followed by a burial at Sarasota National Cemetery at 1pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the beautiful life that Richard lived.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Charlotte County Soccer Federation in honor of the Moss-Solomon Family Scholarship Award that goes to a deserving member of the soccer community. Donations can be made via check or by emailing [email protected]
