Marcia Norman was born Marcia Nosich on October 25, 1942, in South Chicago to John and Dorothy Nosich. She had five brothers: Matt, Daniel, Robert, John, and Charlie. Marcia attended Bowen High School. In 1964, she married John Brooks, and together they had two children, John and Heather.
In 1975, Marcia moved from Chicago to the southern part of King County, Washington. She and John later divorced. In 1980, she began working at Metro, where she met Richard Norman, who would later become the love of her life. They married in 1987, and Marcia joyfully welcomed two stepsons, Dave and Dan, into her family.
Marcia and Richard built a custom home in Renton in 1988. Following her retirement, they relocated to Tenino, Washington, in 2007. Together, they traveled extensively, visiting China, Cuba, the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic, New Zealand, Australia, Europe, and many places across the United States. They also enjoyed sailing in the San Juan Islands and taking smaller trips to visit their children and grandchildren.
Marcia and Richard shared a love of bridge and treasured the friendships they built through the game. Marcia was a talented seamstress and an avid quilter. She enjoyed participating in her book club and was a devoted and generous friend to many.
Marcia was abruptly taken from us on April 1, 2025. She is survived by her brothers Charlie and John Nosich; her husband, Richard Norman; her son and daughter-in-law, John and Tricia Brooks; her daughter, Heather Brooks; her stepsons, Dave Norman and Dan Norman; and her former daughter-in-law, Shelly Hansen.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Ali and Loren Bates, Spenser and Jessica Brooks, Maria and Josh Wright, Sasha Brooks, Adeline Denton, Sylvie Denton, Rebecca North, Ryan and Rhiannon Norman, and Erin Norman; and by her great-grandchildren: Dorothy Bates and, most recently, Lucien Stratton.
