John Thomas Uhas
June 24th, 1940 - April 13th, 2025
John (Jack) Thomas Uhas, passed away on April 13, 2025 on a road trip. He was born June 24, 1940 in Forsythe, Montana to parents Thomas John (TJ) and Laurene (Peggy). On March 18, 1961, Jack married the love of his life, Carol Swan, in Lewistown, Montana.
Jack was unable to make it through his first semester at college due to financial reasons and joined the United States Air Force, where he was on active-duty for twenty years. His military service was very important to him, and he was able to see some exciting places like Okinawa, Johnston Island, Hawaii, plus many other not so exciting locations. After retiring from the Air Force, Jack received an opportunity to work for Hewlett Packard. During his free time and weekends, Jack earned an associate’s degree in welding from Aims Community College, with a 4.0 GPA, and also took courses at Colorado State University in the Electrical Engineering program; Jack loved learning.
Jack had many hobbies, but woodworking, photography, leatherworking, and swimming were his favorites. During his golden years, Jack enjoyed reading and watching movies. He especially enjoyed the science fiction genre…he always said, if a spaceship landed, he would get on it now that Carol was gone. When Jack was not enjoying science fiction, you could find him out walking and getting those steps in; he must have had 30 pedometers in his house so he could easily find one on the way out the door.
Those close to Jack knew he loved them, but sometimes we all wondered if he loved us or Sees dark chocolate covered almonds more.
Jack is survived by two daughters; Tammy and husband Don and Toni and husband Les, four grandchildren; Ryan, Eric, Aurora, and McKinley, and three great grandchildren; Brayden, Ramona, and Orval. All his family love and miss their Papa Jack. He is also survived by his sister, Diana, and his brother, Kirk.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife Carol (leaving a hole the size of Montana in his heart), his parents, and his sister, Patsy.
If all goes as planned, Jack will be laid to rest with his wife in Lewistown, Montana for his 85th birthday. He has missed her every single day for the last twenty-three years, and now it is time for him to lay next to her one last time, may his heart be whole at last.
If you would like to make a memorial contribution in his name, one could be made to the Larimer County Food Bank, Meals on Wheels of Loveland, or the House of Neighborly Service in Loveland. Another thing you could do is if you see a person at McDonalds that looks down on their luck or hungry, buy them an Egg McMuffin or a gift card for future food (he was known to do this), and for that brief moment, remember our loving and missed father, John (Jack) Thomas Uhas
