Carter-Trent Funeral Homes - Kingsport
E. Wayne Taylor
August 9th, 1934 - May 7th, 2025
"Like the gentle melody of a father's song, so too did he sing praises to the Lord, his heart overflowing with love and gratitude."
E. Wayne Taylor, 90, of Kingsport, met his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
Wayne was born August 9, 1934, to the late Rev. George K. and Blanche Taylor. He loved Southern Gospel Music and attended many gospel singings, national quartet conventions and concerts over his many years of serving the Lord. He attended Tabernacle Baptist Church in Kingsport where he sang in the choir. He retired from Eastman Chemical Company after over 40 years of service. Wayne enjoyed watching things grow such as his vegetable garden and flowers. He always had a well-kept yard, immaculate cars and could do anything with his talented hands. He was a very kind but quiet man who would always help others selflessly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis J. Taylor in April 2020; sister, Evelyn Heck.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Kimberly Taylor Wright and husband, Michael of Kingsport; his fur grand-babies, Holly and Sage; along with several special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport.
A funeral service will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor David Hodges officiating. Pallbearers will be Don Shipley, John Whittington, Jackie Baxter, Kenny Pierce, Jeremy Patterson, and Jordan Whittington. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jack Casey and Dr. Christopher Neglia.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at East Lawn Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 am to go in procession to the cemetery.
