Jeffrey Wallace Jackson
March 12th, 1952 - May 6th, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Jeffrey Jackson due to natural causes on Tuesday, May 6th. Jeffrey was born on March 12, 1952, in Zumbrota, Minnesota, to Janet & Rev. Wallace Jackson.
Jeff’s family moved frequently as his dad was called to different churches. In 1968 Jeff’s dad was sent to the Lutheran Brethren Church in Mayville North Dakota where he met his future wife, Peggy (Newman) Jackson. Jeff and Peggy married on May 20, 1972. They both attended the University of North Dakota and had their first son, Joe in 1973 and second Mike in 1975.
Their family moved to Thief River Falls, Minnesota. Jeff worked with adults with disabilities there until they moved to Boise in 1978. He worked as a talented and sought after finish carpenter in Boise. He had a passion for woodworking and created many cherished pieces for his loved ones, showcasing his creative craftsmanship until his retirement. While they lived in Boise, they had Joshua in 1983 and Bethany & Christopher in 1985. His other passion was animals. He had a soft spot for anything with fur and four legs, accumulating many throughout his life. Taking on random strays that his kids brought home; allowing rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, iguanas, frogs, turtles and a parrot to rule the house…. against his wife’s better judgment. He loved to be outdoors, during the summers you would find him taking his kids fishing and camping. Every weekend he would take them to new places around Idaho, and then when the weekend was over, he would declare “never again”. He was known as poppy to his grandkids who he loved so much, he will be deeply missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know him.
Jeff was very loved and is survived by; wife Peggy, son Joe and wife Erin, grandchildren Kayla and Davis; son Mike, son Josh and granddaughter Olivia; son Christopher and partner Katelyn, granddaughter Hadley; daughter Bethany and Husband Travis Stone; granddaughters Harper and Haven.
Jeff is also survived by brother Vaughn and wife Bev; brother Jim and wife Elaine; and their children, sister and brother-in-law Kris and Gary Domier; sister and brother-in-law Katy and Matt Maunu; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Rick and Allison Newman; brother-in-law Dale Keller, brother-in-law Gary Olinger.
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents Janet and Wallace, sister Susan, parents in law Don and Ardy Newman and sister-in-law, Lisa Olinger.
The service will be May 17th, 2025 at Whitney United Methodist church at 2pm. Jeff loved bright colors so the family would like to encourage colorful clothing at the service.
