Tribute & Tallent Funeral and Cremations
Mary Ann Ittner Norris
January 11th, 1942 - May 10th, 2025
Mary Ann Ittner Norris, 83, passed away in her home at Matthews Glen on Saturday, May 10, 2025.
Born January 11, 1942, in Wilmington, NC to Lossie and Gordon Ittner, Mary Ann graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a Bachelor's degree in Math Education.
Mary Ann was a passionate UNC Tar Heels fan who never missed cheering on her beloved alma mater in basketball and football. She was a dedicated mother often volunteering at her children’s schools. Mary Ann’s monthly bridge group brought her great joy, where her friendly nature made her a cherished member for many years.
Throughout her time in Charlotte, Mary Ann was a devoted member of Sardis Presbyterian Church, where her faith remained a cornerstone of her daily life. She served faithfully in the children's nursery and found purpose in creating prayer shawls with her Circle group, bringing comfort to many in times of need. Mary Ann coordinated and volunteered in an afterschool tutoring program at Rama Road Elementary School tutoring children in the ESL program in Math and other subjects.
On August 21, 1965, she married Bill Norris, who survives her. Their union of nearly 60 years was blessed with three children: Susan Pahl (Jamie) of Chevy Chase, MD; Robert Norris (Laura) of Denver, NC; and David Norris (Sara) of Charlotte, NC.
Mary Ann found tremendous joy in her role as grandmother to her eight grandchildren: Henry, Jonah, Caroline, and Eliza Pahl; Collin and Connor Norris; and Cofield and Liddy Norris. They cherished their “Mimi or Mimsy” and are going to miss her greatly. She leaves a lasting impression of unconditional love and selflessness that will be carried with them throughout their lives.
A funeral service celebrating Mary Ann's life will be held at Sardis Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church after the service.
Mary Ann's gentle spirit and unwavering dedication to her family created a legacy of love that will continue through the lives she touched. She will be deeply missed, but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Sardis Presbyterian Church (Charlotte, NC) or the charity of your choice.
