Joan Martin
March 19th, 1935 - May 14th, 2025
In loving memory
Joan Martin, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother entered fully into the presence of the Lord on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. She was 90. She was the oldest of three daughters, born in Washington DC.
Joan was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, church, community, and sharing her faith.
Joan was a stay-at-home mom and caregiver who was active in each of her six children's activities, and could be seen on the road and at a ballpark almost everyday. There wasn’t a game she missed. She was always someone her kids could go to for advice, love, and comfort.
One of her biggest joys in life was being able to give the same love and attention to her five grandsons by caring for them, as well. Her only rule was when a new baby comes in, the old baby needs to be out, which is why there is a 20 year span between her grandsons.
Joan loved her time with family. She was an avid reader who especially loved westerns. She also enjoyed her phone calls with her sisters in Delaware.
She was a prayer warrior that prayed for others up to the end of her life.
Joan is survived by daughters Martha (David), Marianne (Greg), Jean, son Alan (Mitzi), grandsons Chris, Corey (Aimee), Jacob (Sloane), Matthew, Luke (Lydia) and great grandchildren Brody, Ellee, Eden,Tommy and sisters Carol and Eileen (Steve).
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Ellis, sons Michael and Tommy and parents George and Mary Finnin.
There will be a private service and burial at Woodbridge Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to Life Springs Worship Center, or a charity of your choice.
