Stephenie Bernice McRae, age 79, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025. Born on July 21, 1945, in Arlington Heights, Illinois, Stephenie lived a life marked by compassion, strength, faith, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.

Stephenie began her adult life as a passionate and skilled Registered Operating Room Nurse at Northwest Community Hospital in Chicago. After marrying her beloved husband, Charles Robert McRae Sr., she embraced the unique role of Navy wife, raising their first four children across various military bases throughout North America and the Mediterranean.

Following Charles’ military retirement, Stephenie settled in Indialantic, Florida, where she became a devoted homemaker and pillar of the beachside community. Her heart for service was evident in her tireless volunteering within the public school system and her leadership in establishing youth soccer programs to ensure that every child had a chance to experience the joy of the game.

A faithful follower of Jesus Christ, Stephenie was a committed member of Grace Lutheran Church in Melbourne and Ascension Lutheran Church in Indian Harbour Beach. Her faith-inspired service extended to community outreach programs like Meals on Wheels, where she brought comfort and nourishment to those in need.

Stephenie was also a gifted seamstress, known for her beautiful quilts and handcrafted fabric works, which she lovingly made for family, friends, and charitable causes. Her talents extended to the tennis courts, where her skill and intensity brought joy to teammates and family members alike.

More than anything, Stephenie cherished her role as a mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Charles; her five children, Camille Pinelli, Kirsten Weldon, Charles “Bobby” McRae Jr., Steven McRae, and Timothy McRae; her sisters, Joy Gallimore and Dawn Lisec; and her ten adored grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Bernice Leth.

Stephenie was a woman of strength and compassion who lived by the Golden Rule. Her deep empathy, radiant spirit, and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her family shares, “There is a hole in our hearts from her sudden passing, but we find comfort in the immeasurable love and support she gave us every day of her life.”

A memorial service will be held in her honor at Faith Lutheran Church in Rockledge, Florida, at 1:00 PM EST on May 24, 2025, followed by a celebration of life.

Stephenie Bernice McRae will be remembered always for her love, grace, and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
